ELC Summer programme 2026

Summer Festival of the Arts 2026  |  K1 Programme

Our K1 Summer Programme provides young children with a warm and nurturing introduction to school life through play, exploration, and meaningful hands-on experiences inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Drawing from both the K1 and K2 curriculum, children are supported as they grow in independence, build friendships, and develop confidence through art, movement, storytelling, and inquiry-based learning.

Families may choose between two learning environments:

To support consistency and strong relationships for young learners, programme placement is confirmed at registration and cannot be changed later.

Session 1

Week 1: Creative Expression
Children explore creativity through hands-on art experiences that encourage imagination, confidence, and joyful self-expression. Working with paint, clay, and a variety of sensory materials, they experiment, create, and communicate their ideas using many forms of artistic language. In a safe and supportive environment, children are encouraged to focus on the creative process rather than perfect results. Through exploration and discovery, they develop fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, resilience, and pride in their unique creative voice while building a lasting love for art and learning.
Session 1

Week 2: Movement
Children experience movement as a powerful way to learn, express themselves, and connect with the world around them. Through active play, dance, construction, art-making, and hands-on exploration, they investigate how their bodies move, how objects move, and how movement supports creativity and discovery. Designed to build physical awareness, coordination, and confidence, this program encourages children to jump, twirl, build, and experiment freely. As they move and collaborate with others, children strengthen their bodies, develop social connections, and deepen their understanding of themselves and their environment while having fun and staying active.
Session 1

Week 3: Elements of light and shadow
Children investigate the magic of light and shadow through hands-on experimentation, creative exploration, and scientific discovery. Using natural and artificial light sources, reflective materials, projection, and immersive spaces, children observe how light moves, transforms environments, and reveals hidden details in the world around them. Inspired by curiosity and inquiry, children test ideas, make predictions, and develop their own theories about how light behaves. Through collaborative exploration and creative expression, they strengthen observation skills, critical thinking, imagination, and confidence, learning to see the world with deeper awareness, wonder, and appreciation for its beauty.

Week 3: Structural landscapes
Inspired by the natural beauty of our garden environment, children investigate how structures exist all around us, within nature, in the spaces we build, and in the ways we organize our ideas and relationships. Surrounded by bamboo tree houses, plants, insects, and open outdoor spaces, children explore, observe, and make meaning through play, collaboration, and hands-on discovery. Through building, mapping, designing, and imaginative play, children experiment with shapes, patterns, balance, and form. As they create their own structures and shared games, they strengthen mathematical thinking, spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, and social understanding. This program invites children to see themselves as designers and thinkers, discovering how structure brings order, creativity, and connection to the world around them.
