2024 Carnival of Cultures
We celebrated some of the many beautifully diverse cultures in our City School community with our annual Carnival of Cultures. The children had their ‘passports' ready to be stamped as they took a trip around the world; they visited the USA, UK, Netherlands, Thailand, Taiwan, Italy, Iran, Canada, India, and Nepal, to learn about their cultures and arts through hands-on activities.
Where Storytelling begins…
We have an exciting new space at the City School in our Thai house, dedicated to storytelling and writing. Over the past few weeks, Ms. Rachael, our Literacy Coordinator, has invited the children into this space to explore its delights, to take a journey through literature, and to dream up ideas.
Project Learning Journey Y3: Roz the AQI Robot
Under the umbrella research topic 'dialogues between nature and technology', our Year 3 children embarked on their Project journey last year, which led them to become robotic designers and engineers. The children were first invited to explore how technology can help us engage with nature - using digital cameras and stereoscopes to explore the natural world around them - and they began to ask questions and exchange ideas about how we define nature and technology and their relationship: ‘Nature is wonderful and we can learn from it!’ ‘If nature could communicate to humans, what would it say?’ ‘How can technology help nature?’
