ELC Summer programme 2026

Summer Festival of the Arts 2026  |  Y2 ~ Y6 Programme

Session 1 & Session 2: Scientific Discovery Lab
A hands-on workshop for testing ideas, making predictions, and getting messy in the name of discovery. Whether investigating natural phenomena or building simple machines, young scientists learn to observe closely, ask meaningful questions, hypothesize, and develop creative solutions through experimentation.
Session 1 & Session 2: Engineering & Robotics Lab
Explore the real and imagined world of Robotics, through designing, building, and coding using LEGO EV3 and Sphero SPRK. Through collaborative challenges, children will design and construct simple robots to complete tasks, navigate obstacles, and solve problems. Along the way, children will strengthen planning, communication, instructional writing, teamwork, and leadership skills as they bring their ideas to life.
Session 1 & Session 2: Wide World Of Sports
Join us for an interdisciplinary adventure into the world of sports! The children will practice a range of athletic skills throughout fun games and activities. We will rotate through sports such soccer, basketball, volleyball, chairball, foursquare, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee and field hockey. This session is about having fun, increasing movement skills and promoting sportsmanship and physical health.
Session 1 & Session 2: Author Experiences
In this weeklong workshop, children step into the role of authors through a rich exploration of storytelling and book-making. By creating pop-up and sensory picture books, they engage in the full writing process, planning, drafting, revising, and refining. Inspired by published authors, children develop their own narrative voices and create tangible works to share and celebrate with their community.
Session 1 & Session 2: World Building
Children will explore elements of storytelling, world-building, and artistic expression through the creation of thoughtful and environmentally conscious dioramas. Using natural and recycled materials, they will have the opportunity to sculpt, draw, print, and build three-dimensional worlds that reflect their ideas and values. This experience supports skills such as observing closely, persisting with ideas, stretching thinking, and expressing identity through making.
Session 1: Game Design Coding
Through the creative process of designing and building their own interactive games, children learn foundational programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, and problem-solving. Using a scaffolded, age-appropriate approach, they plan ideas, test code, receive feedback, and refine their designs. The programme supports beginners while extending more experienced coders through increasingly complex challenges. By combining technology, creativity, and critical thinking, children develop perseverance, digital literacy, and a strong foundation in computational thinking.
Session 1: Graphic Design & Visual Thinking
Children explore the world of visual communication through hands-on design experiences. By investigating colour theory, composition, typography, and layout, they discover how design communicates meaning in everyday life, from branding, advertising, and wayfinding to data visualisation. Working across both analogue and digital media, children use materials such as pencil, ink, paper, collage, and digital tools to experiment with visual storytelling. By integrating technology, they are also able to animate their own creations and see their ideas come to life. Through the design process, children learn to brainstorm and sketch ideas, iterate on concepts, refine their work through feedback, and execute polished final designs. The programme encourages curiosity, reflective thinking, and perseverance as children gain confidence in expressing themselves through design. Session 2: Visual Art Adventures
Children explore the world of visual arts as a language for thinking, expression, and communication. Through hands-on encounters with a wide range of materials, such as paint, pastels, clay, collage, and drawing tools, they experiment, observe, and discover how ideas take shape through making. Inspired by artists, processes, and provocations, children investigate colour, texture, composition, and form while developing confidence in their own creative voice. There is no single outcome or “right way” to create; instead, children are encouraged to explore possibilities, take risks, and reflect on their work. Through daily making, conversation, and documentation, children come to see themselves as capable artists, using visual languages to express ideas, emotions, and stories in ways that are uniquely their own.

Session 2: Stories from the Sky (Drone)
Capture & Create with the new DJI Neo Drone. Take to the skies in this exciting, hands-on workshop where children become drone pilots and digital storytellers! Using the new DJI Neo, students will learn to fly with both controllers and palm/voice commands, while exploring safe and responsible drone practices. They’ll capture and edit original aerial footage using DJI’s LightCut app and AI tools, turning their recordings into creative, personalized videos. Along the way, children will build coordination, confidence, and digital skills through fun drone games and challenges. Each child will leave with a unique video creation, showcasing their progress and perspectives from above.
