HEAD OF SCHOOL & PEDAGOGISTA
MEMBER OF THE EDUCATIONAL BOARD OF GOVERNORS

PAYAL KOGAR

For over 25 years, I have been part of ELC’s remarkable journey and have helped shape a learning community that continues to evolve in depth, philosophy, and purpose. After my education in India and Singapore, I came to Bangkok, where my work at ELC has been driven by research, collaboration and an ongoing pursuit of educational excellence. Along the way, I have continued to expand my perspectives through further study at UCL and Harvard, deepening my understanding of educational philosophy and practice.

Deeply inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, I have had the privilege of working closely with one of its founders, Giovanni Piazza, to develop and refine ELC’s approach to learning. Together, we shaped a pedagogy that champions a view of children as citizens of today and personalise learning through purposeful, inquiry-driven projects grounded in contemporary contexts. By listening closely, documenting learning and making children’s thinking visible, we cultivate curiosity, creativity and character—qualities I’ve seen flourish in every cohort, including my own two children, both proud ELC graduates.

Alongside our dedicated team, I strive to nurture a culture of creativity, compassion, and global consciousness, where learning remains a collective act of wonder and dialogue.
Outside of school, I love exploring green spaces in and around Bangkok—environments that invite reflection, curiosity, and the quiet beauty of slowing down

HEAD OF TEACHING AND LEARNING
MEMBER OF THE EDUCATIONAL BOARD OF GOVERNORS

HEATHER PEASE

I am from Canada and studied History, Biology and Education at Queen’s University. As an Ontario trained and licensed teacher, part of my role is to work with the teachers to ensure the Ontario curriculum is implemented to a high quality at ELC. After spending time working at Lakefield College School, I started my journey abroad, moving to Saudi Arabia. It was then that I made the switch from teaching secondary to teaching primary school, as I value the quality time and relationships that primary teachers build with their students and families. This is my 7th year at the City School and my passion is teaching Mathematics, as I believe it is a beautiful and creative language that we use to interpret the world around us. I have a specialist in Primary and Junior Mathematics from Queen’s University and passionately work with the children, teachers and parents to develop positive relationships with Math. I love to read, travel and explore, enjoy being outdoors and spending time at the beach. I am also currently completing my Masters in Education, specializing in International Education.

HEAD OF PASTORAL CARE AND COMMUNITY

JEM WRIGHT

I am originally from the UK but was raised and educated in Australia. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) as well as a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning from Australia. I am currently completing my Masters in Special and Inclusive Education. This year marks my 15th year at The City School, and I have stepped into the new role of Head of Pastoral Care and Community. My great passion is supporting children in their social and emotional growth, and further developing Responsive Classroom at The City School. Personally, I am a huge fan of public speaking, and in my down time my hobbies include martial arts, and cooking with my daughter Layla, who recently graduated from The City School.

HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

TREVOR CARDOZO

I am originally from Toronto, Canada but traded the snow for sunshine twelve years ago when I began my career at ELC as a Year 3 teacher. Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing many children learn and grow in our ever-changing world. Even as a classroom teacher, I focused on integrating technology and innovation into learning, with class projects centered around coding, designing, biomimicry, robotics, and engineering. I am thankful for the opportunity to take this love for technology and innovation to a whole-school level, ensuring that progressive ideas from educators and children alike are incorporated into learning and teaching opportunities.

I believe it is crucial to help children develop healthy, safe, and creative relationships with the digital world, and I am excited to continue learning alongside them in the upcoming year.
